Ch4 commissioned a 'Formula 1' 2018 season opener consisting of a mix of CGI, live content and F1 footage. The concept was a futuristic hall of holograms surrounding presenter Steve Jones. This was intercut with live footage to promote the up and coming season.

This ‘Clash of the F1 Carbon Gods’ focused on the main protagonists for the up and coming season, specifically the epic battle between Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton and Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel.

The creative revolved around Steve’s scripted delivery. A selection of monologues emphasising key impact points were delivered with his usual charm and humour providing an opportunity for a fun and energetic piece.

The film was underscored with a bespoke soundtrack based on the 'Carbon Gods' theme. War drums, choirs, distorted power basses and a host of other elements were employed to create an epic atmosphere. This was then fused with car sounds and commentary from the actual footage to deliver a visceral trackside energy that flowed throughout the teaser.
